CLUB ASSEMBLY

Wayne Storozuk gave us financial statements and budget numbers . Some of the funds raisers brought in good money without an outlay of funds such as Enchanted Forest, Lobster Fest and Rib Fest.

Steve moved and Wayne McGillivray seconded to approve the financial report as presented .

PETS

Paul Gauthier reported on his weekend experience with President Elect training:

  • The theme of this year’s Rotary President is ‘be the inspiration’ .
  • Keeping members is a strong priority . It was even discussed that we should designate mentors to each new member . If we don’t involve them in the first three or four meetings we usually lose them .
  • The District Governor will be Elaine Thompson from Winnipeg Charleswood . She will visit in September .
  • District fees will be the same this year .

FACEBOOK

Bev Johnston walked us through some Facebook information .

Our followers are 51 % men and 49 % women . If we just check ‘like’ then the information is shared with our own network . That’s how we get the word out . We should ‘like’, ‘share’, and ‘talk it up’ .

ADVENTURES IN TECHNOLOGY

Our week is April 15th to 20th . We have about 20 students and we are filling the positions of host and drivers over the next few weeks . Steve will be visiting other clubs during the next week .

Dave Sundby read a report sent by Jim Weber . This project is run without club money and has been around for 11 years . Jim says there are two students who started in grade 7 with the program and now they are ready to graduate from college . Some of the sponsors are right in Puerto Vallarta, MX . Many of the students have pledged their goal to pay back their scholarship money when they reach the work force .

CENTENNIAL PAVILION

President Mark reported that there have been delays because the detailed drawings were a long time coming . There are some choices of structures to consider . A plain rectangular building would cost $ 100,000 and a hexagonal building would cost $ 150,000 . The latter is the target . Cit consultation is required and it is unlikely we’ll have it built by this summer but the fall might be possible . A grant has been applied for that would bring in $ 30,000 if obtained .
