Happy and Sad Dollars

$1.00 Wayne McGillivray spoke of Bruce Gordon, who recently died. He was a great friend of hockey.

$2.00 Claire took us through his odyssey with his computer keyboard. He had sanitized it, but it caused some keys to stick. He decided to try to clean it rather than buying a new keyboard. Ultimately what worked best was soaping it up in the shower and rinsing it thoroughly with the shower head. He also said his grandson-in-law just received his medical degree and his eldest grandson has just been accepted into medical school.

$1.00 Will lamented that there won’t be a fishing trip this year.

$5.00 Graham Pearson stated that a previous exchange student, Leonardo, will be staying with them June 13 to July 4th. Leonardo has a job doing programming for EA Sports Soccer,a game which he enjoys.

$1.00 Vic is sad to hear that all university sports are cancelled for this fall.

$1.00 Peter V. is happy that his new logo is printed for his company. His business shows the value of energy using waste materials.

$1.00 Mark Gryba was at a gender reveal party - he will be a grandfather for the first time in November.

$1.00 Gary Rusu announced that he and Marjorie were celebrating their wedding anniversary.

Health of the Club

Adrian Van Duyvendyk had a pacemaker put in.

Susan Blum is back to work and recently drove east to be with her daughter.

Otto Ulrich appears to be doing well and resides at Primrose Chateau.

We are looking for a representative from our club who can report to us about the health of our members.

Paul Gauthier's Presentation on the Budget

Because of COVID- 19 some of our fundraising ventures are not available to us. We won't be holding the Badge and Shield, Lobster Fest, Rib Fest etc. Changes to the Budget included the following suggestions:

1. Collecting $ 10.00 per member attending a zoom meeting
2. The membership fees will remain, as previously indicated in an email, as $315.00 before June 15th and $335.00 after that date.
3. We will drop the training budget from $3,500 to $2,500.
4. Membership and Fellowship budget from $1,000.00 to Zero
5. PR funds will go from $5,000 to $2,500 partly because other clubs are sharing the cost pro-rata now.
The projection is that there will be a $ 2,838 surplus which can be used for local projects rather than to cover administration.

General Discussion

Jim Weber suggested the Club should check with Rotary International about offering the magazine on-line instead of mailing it out. On our own website we should offer our members the opportunity to advertise. Jim questions whether we still need to give $500 to the District Governor for his / her projects.

Graham Pearson suggested that we should look in to paying our zoom fees and happy and sad dollars through an E-Transfer. Wayne Parker will investigate setting that up with the bank.

Drew Byers confirmed that a budget of $2,500 for PR Funds from the club is plenty. Caitlin,
our web-site administrator is being paid about $ 370 per month.

Paul set up a poll through zoom and 96 % of responders were in favour of having alternate zoom/ in person meetings. 100 % of responders (which were 24 in all) agreed with a $10.00 fee per zoom meeting.

Next Meeting Thursday, June 25th (Zoom - with guest speaker)
