GUEST SPEAKER
Jason Rorick was introduced by Gary Rusu. Jason is a Police Officer who hasexperienced PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
He has been involved with meditation and hypnotism as therapy.
He has been a life coach and authored two books, one on ‘Mindfulness’ and one called ‘Cops Don’t Cry’.
Jason says we should realize that it is not the type of traumatic event that isimportant; it is our reaction to the event.
Jason described the following symptoms of his PTSD:
- A constant fight or flight feeling
- Self Isolation, alternative reality (video games)
- Flashbacks, nightmares (also occurred during the day), anger
- Worry about what others would think if he admitted he is ill and needs help
The following led him to recovery:
- Not to judge your self as being less than someone else or not up to doing the job
- Meeting with a Psychologist and practicing Meditation
- Developing good self-talk; speak of what is and not what could happen, and
continue to use these techniques as situations arise which might have
  previously set you off.
Next Meeting - Hybrid meeting on October 19th at the Saskatoon Club.
