JUNE 22, 2015 - ROTARY DISTRICT CONFERENCE
Bev, Vic and Avis presented a comprehensive summary of their attendance, along with Wayne and Jack, at the recent District Conference. Highlights included a great youth presentation from the exchange students and a touching service for Rotarians who had passed on including our member Jim Arnold. The key theme for the 2015/16 year will be a "Gift to the World" that we will hear more about through the year.
Relationships and friendships in Rotary were highlighted, with a statement that "Rotary is a door opener not a gate keeper". Recognizing changing family life was also a key theme, focusing on the importance of compatibility of Rotary and daily life.
Vic took along and ran slide shows on Rap and Becas, and handed out material on our other key projects. He is also now on the PR committee for the District. The PR Strategic plan is now being completed and should be disseminated to all the clubs shortly.
The District reported that Polio in Africa has now been eradicated. 2018 is the target date to eliminate it entirely from the World.
Avis reported that this was her first conference and found the visiting exchange students very impressive. The Rotary Foundation, public image and membership were key themes being stressed. The Literacy session was very fulfilling with a focus on children. Our Club even won a Literacy Award!
The Club offered its thanks to our participants for attending and reporting out today.

New Members
Peter V. announced a Membership meeting for Wednesday at 7:30 AM at the Saskatoon Club.
Rotateller
Graham will be away for July and is looking for backup to write the weekly newsletter. A simple Word document highlighting the meeting will work fine for those not wanting to use Club Runner. The task is important and a good way for new members to get their "feet wet" in supporting the club. Lots of help is available and the time commitment is limited. Please let Graham, Gord, Al or Adriana know if you can help.
President's Dinner
June 29 at the Saskatoon Club is the date selected to honor President Wayne's year. Tickets are $55 for a Prime Rib supper. There will be no meeting that day. Please RSVP to Bev.
