Announcements

Adventurers in Human Rights - Joanne Fisher spoke of this upcoming program and our desire to send a student. Hoping to find a student who has participated in the RAP program as our representative. Should you know of a deserving student please see Joanne.

Adventures in Technology - No report at this meeting. Dave Sundby promised to get in contact with Steve Wilson and that they would have an update at the next meeting.

Grocery Cards are available from Gary Rusu. Prior to the holidays we were having real success with this program. Please help keep it going by purchasing cards. Again, any members of the club not consuming groceries are exempt.

Friendship Inn - no regular meeting March 20th so we can again undertake serving meals at the Friendship Inn. The sign-up sheet is going around please sign up for your time. It helps if people commit sooner as we can determine the holes that need to be filled.

Hope for Malawi - Peter Zakreski has raffle tickets for sale. Please buy a ticket. The funds raised will go to the costs of sending a container to the Malawi project. I believe the prize is a trip for two by rail from Montreal to Vancouver. A worthwhile project and a great prize.

Badge Shield and Star Dinner - This is our annual major fundraiser in support of RAP and other Rotary projects. The dinner will be held April 12th at Prairieland. Once again ticket prices will be unchanged from last year. The guest speaker has been confirmed and is the retired fire chief from Fort MacMurray who will speak on the fire and evacuation.

Sergeant at Arms: Dave Sundby

There were not a lot of fines: Everyone who enjoyed Superbowl LI was fined a dollar.

Wayne S and Joanne F were fined. Wayne was fined for sitting at an all woman table and Joanne was fined for sitting at an all men table.

Happy and Sad:

H Peter Z. For leaving for five weeks (count ‘em 1,2,3,4,and 5) in Hawaii. And please BUY TICKETS!

H Maureen T for growing recognition of success for Joy’s Home in Uganda. The school is up and running with both residents of the orphan home and students from the surrounding community.

H Wayne M for recent success of Hockey Huskies.

H Joanne for half-time show at Superbowl LI.

H Wayne S for getting away for ten days starting tomorrow. Also a jealous dollar for Peter Z’s five weeks. Well someday Wayne will be able to go away for that long!

(We seem to have been a very happy and satisfied bunch this week.)

PROGRAM: Rotary Online and Club Runner

Dave Sundby took us through our club profile on line. Out club homepage shows up first on a Google search of Saskatoon Rotary. Our Facebook page also shows up. We need to put more effort into keeping our Facebook page current

From our homepage there are links to various club projects such as RAP and Hope for Malawi. Additional links should be added for projects such as Joy’s Home of Hope.

Dave demonstrated using the Club Runner site. I will not try to reproduce the information here. The best way to learn this program would be to go on and work it through online. Our club finds this program very useful and easy to use for email to our members. President Jack uses it to send his weekly reminders of member’s responsibilities for each meeting.

From our Club Runner site we can access the District 5550 site and obtain contact information for other Rotarians in the district. Emails for the Meewasin members (not included in the printed directory) are available on their Club Runner site.

There are many other features we are not taking proper advantage of because of the learning curve involved. These include members profiles that require regular updates. The sender of email can also check to see how many of the emails that were sent were opened by the recipient.

The two most knowledgeable members are Dave Sunby and Gord Menuz. Either would be pleased to help any member hone their Club Runner skills. All members have an identity on the site that allows them to send email. If you do not know yours Gord M will sent you your identity and a temporary password. You can then create your own permanent password.

The meeting finished with a group exercise completing a Club Runner survey. Out club found the parts that we use to be useful but there is much of the program we are not using at all.
