Wayne Palmer - Wayne and his wife arrived in Saskatoon about 11 months ago . Before
that they were in Brandon, Manitoba, and before that in Barry, Ontario. Wayne works in the Insolvency and Restructuring industry . He worked for a company on Ontario called RSM who are now expanding into Saskatchewan . They restructure debt for individuals and companies . The idea is to avoid bankruptcy, although there are times when it is unavoidable . There are debt settlement companies out there too but the advantage with Wayne’s company is that when they put together a settlement and the majority of the creditors sign on then all the creditors are bound by it . That is not the case with the debt collection companies . The creditors are not all bound .

Business has picked up in today’s climate .The company assists mostly with issues surrounding unsecured debt, high tax debt, and credit card debt . He observes that the difference with today’s generation is that they have an air of entitlement and want things right now, regardless of the financial consequences . He observes that Canada Revenue Agency is much more aggressive now in pursuing debt .

Wayne and his wife have two grown children, one in Ontario . He enjoys playing golf and while for some it brings glory, for him it brings despair .

Wayne joined Rotary to meet people and to connect with community, giving back and volunteering .

Gary Emde- Gary grew up in Imperial, Saskatchewan and moved to Saskatoon in 1973.
He got into house construction and development and eventually into Real Estate, receiving his licence in 1984 . He was recently president of the Real Estate Board, in fact acts as Past President this year .

Gary was at a meeting in Banff recently for realtors which involved many companies . There is a feeling he brought back from there that this years is going to be a better year in real estate . With the caveat that condos are still flooding the market house sales she be on the upswing in 2017 . With condos, despite the troubles, it would be a good investment, an opportunity to buy low .

The cost of building is down because of the wages costs being lower (materials are not lower) . Because the housing inventory is down there will be more demand, which will stimulate growth .
