Rotary Foundation
Our program today was delivered by Foundation Director Mike Giesbrecht. Mike gave an overview of the basics of the Rotary Foundation (RF). He described it as a Not for Profit organization with a  mission to advance world understanding, good will and peace. The key project focuses are clean water, peace development, disease control and the eradication of polio. The RF partners with many world wide charities including Unicef. The RF has been ranked with an impressive score of 92 out of 100 by ratings agencies that assess foundation effectiveness.

The RF maintains a number of key funds including the Annual fund, the Endowment fund, the World Fund and Polio Plus. The World Fund and other "shared" programs are key recipients of members' contributions. Within the Endowment fund only a percentage of investments is used for specific projects, allowing it to be relatively self sustaining.

Contributions can be made via the RF website on a monthly basis on a credit card. In summary Mike was proud to report that 99% of polio is now eliminated around the World at an average cost of only 60 cents a child. Thank you Mike for your leadership and an excellent presentation.
 
 

Sergeant at Arms  
Following a thoughtful grace by Claire and with no visitors and guest today, Sergeant Dave raised fines for:
 

• A noisy room
• The Fishing trip "swear jar"
• Exchange student lack of support  by members! 
• A fun Banff conference for Vic and Bev 
• Jack, Wayne, Gary, Jim, Paul and Graham for the fishing trip, its "nickel a swear" levy and the general degeneration to the "one way" test!!
• Mike G. for his son's competition finish
• Peter V. for his daughter's ball tourney
• Bev J. for a dove's nest at Blackstrap 
• John for his European cruise
• Gary R. for celebrating his wedding anniversary

Dues
Members are reminded that dues are now owing at $225 if paid before June 16. You may use a credit card if you wish. Wayne's key message "Lets push to get full and prompt payment this year!"
 
New Members
Jim was pleased to report that Peter V. has agreed to take on the New Member Chair role. Thank you to Peter for leading this important initiative.
 
Rotateller
​Graham will be away for July and is looking for backup to write the weekly newsletter. A simple Word document highlighting the meeting will work fine for those not wanting to use Club Runner. The task is important and a good way for new members to get their "feet wet" in supporting the club. Lots of help is available and the time commitment is limited. Please let Graham, Gord, Al or Adriana know if you can help.
 
President's Dinner
June 29 at the Saskatoon Club is the date selected to honor President Wayne's year. Tickets are $55 for a Prime Rib supper. There will be no meeting that day.Please RSVP to Bev. 
 
Joys Home of Hope
Dave announced that the Home needs donations for building toilets at the school. Enrollment is being limited by the sanitation facilities. Also Africa night is slated for June 11 at a cost of $50. The location is the German Club starting at 5:30 PM. See Dave for more information.
 
District Conference 
The District Conference is June 18-21 in Nipawin with our new leader's booked to attend.
