VISITORS AND GUESTS:

Our guest was ADG Candace Odishaw.

HAPPY and SAD DOLLARS

  • $5 Avis took a trip on the Wheatland Express and enjoyed it with some family and friends. They were robbed (in fun). No arrest has been made.
  • $10 Jim Weber shared some Huskie football results and expressed some optimism for future results.
  • $10 President Steve was happy for all who attended the meeting but embarrassed that he forgot to send the meeting reminder the previous week. He also announced the September 6th social event at Brenda Banbury’s place in Cedar Villas, which is in honour of the District Governor’s visit the week after Labour Day.

GUEST SPEAKER

President Steve introduced ADG Canda Odishaw. She is currently the president of the Nutana Club. She has been in Rotary for about 18 years having lived in Edmonton, Red Deer, and Lloydminster and in Saskatoon the last 7 years. She was president of the Border City Rotary Club in Lloydminster and is now serving as president of the Nutana Club for the second time. She is also currently an Assistant District Governor, is Co-Chair of the District Literacy Committee, is on the District Conference Committee, and oversees communication, website, and Facebook for her club. She has also been handling Oskayak scholarship for a few years and RYLA this year for the Nutana Club.

Candace came to speak to us about the results of the District Survey. An ongoing theme is member satisfaction and purpose in joining a club. Engaging members will increase member retention. It was suggested during discussion that having more fun at meetings and not always having a guest speaker might be good. More social events outside of regular meetings to balance off the hard work handling rotary duties is also a good idea.

We are encouraged, along with the other clubs, to create our own action plan to draw in and keep new members. Further discussion is needed along with continued review of the survey results.

Next Club Meeting is on September 12, 2022, at the Saskatoon Club, with Zoom alternative. President Steve will give highlights about the new Rotary year.
