ROTARY CLUB OF SASKATOON

 

August 11, 2025

 

President Will was the Chair of our meeting.

 

Members sang O Canada. Avis Hardy gave the blessing.    

 

Greeter was Don Lepp. Cashier was Donna Gauthier. Technology was handled by Fred Solomon.

 

Our Guest Speaker, introduced by Avis Hardy, was Terry Lynn Paulson, from Space on H.

 

 

 

Local Service meeting to be held 7:00 pm the night of August 11.

 

Board Meeting Thursday August 21.

 

Jim Weber will speak at the August 25 meeting.

 

Social at Space on H on September 6. Wendy has a sign-up sheet and contact her if you wish to attend.

 

On September 8 Bev Dubois will be speaking on happenings in Saskatoon.

 

We are looking for help with the Rotateller.

 

The following have resigned form the club - Peter Whitenect, Vic and Bev Dubois.

 

Grocery Cards with Co-Op and Sobeys are available from Donna Gauthier.

 

On September 20 - 23 there will be a mini-district meeting in Winnipeg.

 

There will be a Foundation Potluck in November.

 

 

Terry Lynn Paulson is an Urban Agriculture Co-Ordinator.

 

The Space on H gives the opportunity to run programs and the garden next to the building brings other options as well.

 

There are internships for students who in turn take care of the garden space. The produce is given to children and families in need, especially where access to fresh food is difficult.

 

Skills programs are taught, and programming is available year-round.

 

There is a garden club in the fall and winter. There is a seed exchange and various other workshops.

 

For youngsters there is a sprouts day camp.

 

Kiscikanis is a Cree word which means garden.

 

Space on H is funded by an annual grant which is currently a multi-year commitment.
