HERB PINDER Jr was the guest speaker .

Dave Sundby introduced the guest speaker . I have to say, as editor of the Rotateller for the day, that I had trouble keeping up to all the accomplishments listed in that introduction .This is what I did catch:

He was born in Boston, educated in Switzerland, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and , later, Harvard . He works in a company called the Gold Group . He is a chairman on many boards, member in several golf clubs, in the Hockey Hall of Fame, is in the Canadian Olympic Association . He is an Honourary Doctor of Laws and receive a ‘125 Year Medal’.

Herb Pinder Jr’s Presentation:

He was introduced to the subject of Global Warning ten years’ ago .

It is a controversial subject so Herb determined that he would do his own research - and he did .

The thrust of Herb’s talk is to say that there is fear mongering out there . There are political agendas being put forward . It is presumed there is global warming or increased temperatures so those with the agendas then seek to find proof that backs up this point of view .

Some observations Herb gave us;

- The level of CO2 in parts per million are very low . It can be described as a trace gas .

- We need CO2 for photosynthesis in our plants and we need our plants to survive .

- In our history there have been ice ages and warm ages . We are in a warm age now . These cycles are about 10,000 years . We are now about 12,000 years into the current warm age and we are in a 300 year warm period . It is good to be warm because then our growing season can be longer . The cost of transportation is also reduced .
