- Mike Giesbrecht was hit with a parking ticket . The minimum cost has gone up to $ 30.00 from $ 15.00 .
- Gary Kerr was at a homecoming in Lang, Saskatchewan, on the weekend . He had a good time but was amazed at how much older the other people looked .
SPEAKER - PRESIDENT MARK GRYBA himself .
President Mark began by giving some of his own history . He has now been a dentist for 40 years and his middle son has now joined his practice . He may tone down his hours in the next few short years but he is not sure if he will fully retire for some time as he still enjoys his work .
He has been on the Board in rotary several times over the approximately 24 years he has been a member .
The biggest event in the Mark’s coming year, he believes, will be the Centennial Celebration of
Rotary in Saskatoon .
During the coming year we also need to focus on Membership . As of the end of July we are at 44 members . By comparison we are at 125 members when Mark joined . Joanne Fisher is the Membership Chair this year . We want to target younger people and females for recruitment .
Generally Mark sees it as important that various areas of responsibility in our club will work best by using a committee structure . This would mean that various tasks would be done by a group of people rather than one only in charge . This allows for continuity where one on the group would take over when the one in charge leaves .
There is still a possibility that our administrative functions will merge with those of the other clubs to reduce some of the pressures we currently experience .
Steve is the Director of Club Service and Bev Johnson is working with the PR Committee . Vic Dubois will continue to take part as well .
Dave Sundby will be seeking help with the Enchanted Forest tour - ticket booth, which has been consistently a good fundraiser for us .
Maureen Torr is seeking a global grant for her project .
At the Christmas Celebration Wayne feels we should clarify the paying for the gifts for the kids as well as how they are selected .
