MEETING RECAP - 19th December 2016

Submitted by Will Arscott 3rd January 2017

December 19th MEETING RECAP - Meeting at Bessborough Saskatoon Rotary Annual Christmas Luncheon

The William Pascoe room was appropriately decorated for the occasion with garlands and Christmas Trees. We had an excellent turn out of Rotarians and heir families.

The meeting was presided by President Jack Brodsky
Greeter - Adriana Van Duyvendyk
Cashier - Paul Gauthier
Set-up - Al Morton
Guest Piano Player - Betty Ann Arscott
Visitors and Guests - were done by our members from each of the tables.

O Canada - with extra gusto befitting the season

Grace - Adriana Van Duyvendyk did a grace focusing on light and bringing light into the world. This was appropriate because bringing light is the purpose of Rotary and the great theme of the Christmas story. It even fits with the date following the winter solstice.

Guests

There were many family members present coming from as far away as Australia. The writer will make no attempt to list everybody and some would get missed. As has become usual the Byers Giesbrecht clan won the attendance award. Following the introductions the member stood and sang our Hello Song. It bounced along like never before with Betty Ann at the piano.

The Bessborough provided an outstanding Christmas luncheon with Turkey and the trimmings and most of the meeting was devoted to fellowship. Following the meal Steve Wilson led carol singing. Many of our favourites were sung both Christmas favourites and the winter classics such as Jingle Bells. The singing ended with Santa Claus is Coming to Town. And then ....

The Big Man himself arrived with his signature HO, HO, HO. There were presents for the children. Thanks to those who may have provided Santa with know who would be at the meeting and making sure to remind him to bring them a little something.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND ALL THE BEST OF 2017 TO OUR MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

The meeting was closed by President Jack who thanked Betty Ann for her contribution on the piano.
