Introducing Chioma Gloria Okpechi:
Chioma Gloria Okpechi grew up in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria, where she developed an intense sense of community and a passion for education. She pursued her education at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, followed by a Master’s in Economics from the University of Lagos. Currently, she is completing her Master’s in Regenerative Sustainability at the University of Saskatchewan, focusing on innovative agricultural practices that enhance both productivity and environmental health.

Chioma is currently working as an Education Assistant, dedicated to supporting students and enhancing their learning experiences. Her commitment to education is rooted in her belief that knowledge is a powerful tool for empowerment and change. With extensive experience in agricultural management and project strategy development, she has worked as a Farm Manager and Program Officer, honing her skills in team leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Previously, Chioma was actively involved with the Rotary Club in Lagos, where she participated in various community service projects aimed at improving educational access and quality. Her experiences there inspired her to join the Rotary Club in her current location, as she seeks to continue making a positive impact in her community. Chioma looks forward to collaborating with fellow members on initiatives that promote education and sustainable development, as well as fostering meaningful connections within the Rotary network. She hopes to contribute her expertise in regenerative agriculture to Rotary initiatives and build lasting relationships within the community.

Introducing Wilson Okonkwo:
I grew up in Nigeria, where I completed my high school education and earned my bachelor’s degree. After working in my home country for a few years, I moved to Japan to pursue a Master’s in Global Environmental Studies, deepening my passion for sustainability. I spent a few years working in Japan before relocating to Canada, where I recently completed another Master’s program in Sustainability.

Currently, I work as a basketball coach, helping young athletes develop teamwork and discipline. I’m also a certified Master Recycler, trained by the Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council, where I educate communities on waste reduction and sustainable living. I joined Rotary because I believe in its mission of service, fellowship, and positive change. Being part of this club allows me to contribute my skills while collaborating with others who share a commitment to making a difference both locally and globally.

We are thrilled to welcome Chioma and Wilson into the Rotary Club of Saskatoon. Their unique talents and passions are a valuable addition to our fellowship and community projects. Welcome aboard and we look forward to getting to know you more at our noon meetings and volunteering!
