ROTARY CLUB OF SASKATOON

Meeting was held at the ‘Space on H’, also known as the Victoria Park Community Centre.
Paul Gauthier chaired the meeting.
Members sang O Canada. Will Arscott gave the blessing.
Mark Gryba handled technology. Cashier was Wayne Palmer. Don Lepp was greeter and introduced visitors and guests.

Paul Gauthier and Gary Rusu were awarded with Paul Harris pins signifying that they have reached the level of plus 7.
Our District Conference will be in Moose Jaw this year on May 10 and 11.

Karen Farmer is with the Saskatoon Police Service, in the are of Community Safety. She is also the Chairperson of the Saskatoon Riversdale Community Collective.
The site we are on hosted lawn bowling for 87 years. In 1999 a new structure was built by HPCA, which was basically a garage package.
In 2016 the property was relinquished back to the City. Eventually, because of mold in the building the structure was removed.
CHEP Good Food converted the land to a community garden. Produce was grown and sold locally. To make the site more permanent the Collective went to Council with a proposal three times. Karen told us that our financial contribution was the spark that made it happen.
There is a deck around the structure which makes it wheelchair accessible and there is also a bathroom equipped for wheelchair occupants. There are solar panels, the place is set up for meetings and wi-fi is on its way.
The hours will be 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 pm year-round and 7 days a week. The building can be rented but preference will be given to those in the current partnership, including our club. Outdoor Education will use the facility and we will eventually have benches outside as there is some money still available.
